ONTARIO REQUIREMENTS FOR DIAMOND DRILL HELPERS (Prerequisite Courses)

  • First Aid
  • WHMIS course
  • Fall Arrest course
  • Lockout-Tagout course

Note:
Once the applicant has received his basic training, the hiring company has one year to complete the required other modules (surface, underground or specialty). These must be done on the job, by a person who is a qualified Trainer. Once the applicant has received his training to the satisfaction of the Company appointed Signing Authority, the Signing Authority signs and submits the original training applications and training reports to the local MTCU apprenticeship branch.




TRAIN THE TRAINER COURSE

This is a four-day course put on by Workplace Safety North in North Bay. This is usually taken by hightly skilled, competent and experienced people who have been accredited with all required Common Core and Specialty moduels

Trainer
A trainer must be a hightly skilled and copetent person. He must be certified in the common core program and specialty modules that he will be instructing. He will have to complete a certified training the Trainer Course, be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, be trained in the company standards and procedures and be able to convey the material successfully to the trainees.

Signing Authority
A signing authority is an employee that has been designated by employer and authorized by the Work place Safety North to be accountable for the quality of training, maintenance of training records and determining the competency of company employees for modular accreditation.
