NOTE:
Once the applicant has received his basic training, the hiring company has one year to complete the other required modules (surface, underground or specialty). These must be done on the job, by a person who is a qualified Trainer. Once the applicant has received his training to the satisfaction of the Company appointed Signing Authority, the Signing Authority signs and submits the original training applications and training reports to the local MTCU apprenticeship branch
TRAIN THE TRAINER COURSE
This is a four-day course put on by MASHA in North Bay. This is usually taken by highly skilled, competent and experienced person who has been accredited with ALL required Common Core and Specialty modules.

Trainer
A trainer must be a highly skilled and competent person. He must be certified in the common core program and specialty modules that he will be instructing. He will have to complete a certified Train the Trainer course, be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, be trained in the company standards and procedures and be able to convey the material successfully to the trainees.

Signing Authority
A signing authority is an employee that has been designated by the employer and authorized by the MTCU to be accountable for the quality of training, maintenance of training records and determining the competency of company employees for modular accreditation.
Reference: The Signing Authority Application and Signing Authority Requirements can be obtained from the Training branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
